This Long Hiatus Brought to Me by the .:Flu:.

Funny how things can go. You are moving along in the course of your everyday, everyweek life, and suddenly one Saturday afternoon in early february, you just can't get off the couch without the room swaying slightly, and so, as in all things sensible, you stay there. And/Or move to your bed.

I have read in the last few days on several people's blogs "what happened to february?" and I concur. My february was one long blur of temperature, temperature, migraine, and then the long 2 weeks of the worst cough I think I never want to have again in my life. I woke up feeling lucid and it was the 26th. You know, all that blah blah blah about appreciating your health, it's my new truism in life, cuz the thing I know for sure, is that it sucks to be that sick, and I would rather not be that sick again, ever.

So, the first week I could barely watch bad daytime tv or read, never mind knit, But, the second week, I could sit up and knit for 20 minute stretches and then lay down again. I will admit that I tried knitting laying down, but the detritus of dropped stitches and wrongly knit stitches took too big a toll, and thus I knit for brief amounts of time. And finished my soon to be neice's baby blanket.

I really like the contrasting colours on the plain blocks, it gives it a quilt feel, and the tree is a lovely texture and feel for a new baby's little fingers. You are viewing it in its natural and unblocked condition, but soon it will be smooth and lovely and winging its way to the soon to be parents.

In Poetry Cardigan news: I got the darker green yarn so I can do the leaves 2-toned as the pattern wants, and also got a different, more plum-ier light colour to go with the darker one. The photo is a bit over exposed, but hopefully the ideas is there. I think I am ready to make my large yarn purchase, and be done with all the decisions and changing my mind over colours. And the winner is:

I hope all is well with everyone as spring gets a little bit closer everyday. Here is a bit of colour that budded, opened and bloomed while I was stuck in the house.

Oh you knit such gorgeous goods. That blanket is wonderful and those baubles (is that the right word?) are perfect for a baby blanket. I adore that swatch. I need to close my mouth and stop drooling over it now. Oh and I'm glad you're feeling better now!

I almost forgot. Buy. The. Yarn!

Wow, that blanket is gorgeous and I love the colorway and that sweater!

Yikes. My time is flying by because I'm swamped at work which is so much better than being sick! Poor baby!

Two weeks of the flu sounds horrifying! I'm glad to hear that you are on the mend. And for a sick person, you made a gorgeous blanket. I'm home sick today myself but not in the mood for much more than surfing the net.

Being sick sucks, and I'm glad you're on the mend. It looks like you were busy even though you were under the weather. The blanket is gorgeous!

That's a beautiful apple tree blanket, and the swatch is just gorgeous. Both look better than the originals! :-)

Wow! You've been busy even if you've been sick. Lovely blanket - I like the addition of color too - makes it even lovelier.

Yup - Go for the yarn purchase. The colorway is fantastic together.

I, too, thought you were consumed by all that colour-work and didn't wish to be 'disturbed'.

The knits are gorgeous - as usual! That blanket, ooooh that blanket...

I was wondering about you -- I assumed you were deep into your knitting. So sorry about your flu. :-(

The blanket is gorgeous - I love the colors and have always loved that pattern.

Wow! Ditto everything Hege said!

Sick = horrible! Glad you're better + blanket was a wonderful distraction + Love the swatch and flowers! Sweater = begorgeous!

Happy almost spring! :)

Oh no! I'm sorry you were so sick. I'm glad that you are on the mend.

Wow, that sounds just horrible. Glad you are ok now. The blanket looks wonderful, I am glad you had that to distract yourself. Love the new colors in the swatch, too. It goes with the flowers! Your sweater is going to begorgeous!
