My August goals were, well, they were long, and with all the getting married and the other life stuff going on this past month and a half, it was a struggle to get even a few of them done.
I DID take some time and energy to focus on my own artwork, which felt Great. Creating just for the sake of the piece rather than for a client or for a deadline, is such a freeing thing... More of this for September.
I am going to skip the re-cap of August because I am not finding the recap where I say, yeah, didn't do that and did part of that, an energy drainer. I know what I have accomplished from my list, and what I have fallen short of, and am getting to know (intimately) where I need to put my time and energies. SO, onward to September:
- PAINT. Paint with no quota of time. Paint because it feeds you. Paint because you need to.
- Design more patterns for cards and for licensing
- Attend Squam Art Workshops and have an Awesome time
- Pack and move into a new (to us) house
- Listen to that inner voice and let it guide me more, listen and really hear what it is saying to me.
- Evaluate my Goals: Review last few months of goals and come up with a personal recap to evaluate my progress. Are there goals that have been on the list that are no longer appropriate, are there goals not on the list that really should be, and truthfully look at the goals that I have consistently avoided.
Hiya, great list for sept & positive thoughts for looking forward!! Being 'creative' is one of the best goals b/c its so rewarding! Love the mixed media prints! Good luck for Sept.

I love your insight about creating for the sake of creating, not a client deadline. I think that is key to continued inspiration and allowing your creativity, not your deadlines, to fuel your motivation.
Your work is beautiful. Wishing you even more creative beauty in September!

Wow all that and a wedding? Amazing!
I'm with you on goal #6 - sometimes those goals we keep putting off are the ones that make the biggest changes. Might be worth looking at them.

How nice it is to drop by your blog -- I just love the image and colour for this post! Ah, yes flexibility. As I get older I can do it better. I feel life is a bunch of exercises teaching yourself how to live more happily.

Hi LIz,

It basically says "Open CrowNology Shop"!
I like your goals especially the listening to your inner voice. SO important, and so over looked, is she.
Good luck with the move and your goals for September.

Yes to 1, 5 & 6! Listening to the inner voices is good good good (when they're the good voices ;)... I love your work - the one on your etsy with the orange flowers is fabulous. And the painting above is beautiful with the symmetrical red flowers/vines.

Your goals are so inspiring--I should always read your blog before I post my goals! :) I love that you make it a priority to listen to your inner voice and to create because you want to, with no constraints or quotas. That's so important, and I think a lot of us indie business owners forget how important our creativity is. It's so easy to get wrapped up in numbers and doing everything just right and to the letter. But if it's not coming from a good place, our innermost creative voice, then none of it will really ring true.
Congrats on your wedding, and best of luck with the move and your September goals!

Hi Liz,
Wow! And I thought I was the only one who purposefully 'avoided goals'. Guess not, lol. Thank you for your post. And paint like the wind!
